Vail Valley Real Estate News Feb 21, 2014

A weekly look at what’s new in the Vail Valley and Real Estate:

The Vail Board of Realtors has released its monthly report for January 2014.  The report indicates the Vail real estate market’s return to a “stable, healthy state” as the rapid recovery of 2013 eases into a more sustainable level of growth.

“Given how far the market has come, it’s a good time for folks to reassess their situation,” the report’s introduction suggests. “Many who were hesitant to sell in recent years may find themselves in a completely different position. Getting a fresh comparative market analysis might be a good idea.”

Nationally, home values for January posted their smallest monthly increase since May 2012, due to an inventory surge.  This is a great time to remind our readers that local events do not always mirror what is going on nationally:

We are not seeing any surge in inventory.

Inventory Surge? Not in Our Valley.

It’s the time of the season for ice dams.  Here’s the three most important things you need to know about – prevention, prevention and, failing that, removal.  “Ice dams are no fun,” laments Ruben’s Home Inspection Blog. “hiring a pro to steam the ice dams off is the only thing I recommend.” We agree.

Tonight marks the return of the WinterWonderGrass festival to the Vail Valley. A musical celebration of all things Colorado, this three-day event focuses on bluegrass, sustainability and local Colorado brands. Ticketsiare going fast, but if you’re quick you might just show up in time for some Leftover Salmon.

Finally, if you were wondering why we missed our weekly Vail Valley Real Estate News update last week, it’s because we were so busy at Keller Williams Family Reunion 2014 in Phoenix, AZ.  For five days, we geeked out with like-minded professionals – and the incomparable Gary Keller himself – on market statistics, best practices and all the latest tools and technology.  Now that we’re back in the valley, we’re excited to use everything we learned to help serve our clients in 2014 and beyond!
