Real Estate News and Notes for February 28

A roundup of the latest real estate news from the Rocky Mountain Home Team:

Lawrence Yun, NAR Chief Economist on the 4.6 percent jump in Pending Home Sales nationwide:

Homebuyers are now returning and taking advantage of lower interest rates, while a boost in inventory is also providing more choices for consumers.”

(Of course, in Eagle County, we’re not quite seeing the same boost in inventory.)

Weekly mortgage applications jump 5.3 percent, as low rates seem here to stay:

The average rate on the 30 year mortgage ran above 5 percent at the start of November but began falling in December and has now sat in the same narrow range for several weeks. With the spring buying season just getting started, house hunters may be reacting to lower rates, even as prices are still historically high.

Townhouses are increasingly the place to call home

Townhouse construction tends to be a little smaller and more entry-level-market and more dense. We see this as a great growth potential for the home-building market.”

What’s New in Eagle County

Have you seen the latest snow reports for Vail and Beaver Creek? It has been a very good season on the slopes.

Organizers of the GoPro Mountain Games announced Wednesday night that Citizen Cope will headline the free evening concert series at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail as part of the GoPro Mountains of Music.

Finally, if you live in Eagle County – whether you rent or own – please take a moment to read this important column from the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District.
